One of the many meanings of the word ‘Style’ as defined in the Oxford English Dictionary is: ” A distinctive appearance, typically determined by the principles according to which something is designed”. The word is synonymous in many ways with Italy. Everything and every where there are example of Italian style, both past and present.
Their buildings exhibit a certain flair even if not elegant and grand like the simple fisherman’s houses that are brightly painted on the Venetian Island of Burano. The ancient building and monuments scattered across the country are perhaps not the only examples of the Italian sense of flair that caught my eye.
Of course Italians seem to suit their environment and never fail to impress with the sense of place and just seem to know how to for effect!
