My Continuing Obsession…

My obsession with wall art from all Australian cities is obvious from previous postings. Rather than the the reputation graffiti taggers have, I find the wall art dominating some our large city side streets a treat. These hidden gems are art to me, a view some city Councils are bound to disagree with. Many artist are becoming well known for their large scale rendering being favoured by developers and Councils to add flavour and colour to our otherwise dreary suburbs. The view from my hotel room in Melbourne was such a surprise, a building used as a canvas, was brilliant,…

RJs View Of The World

This is RJ, he is young and recently up-wardly mobile. He is discovering things and a very welcome distraction from the things we should be doing. I recently visited RJ and unwittingly demonstrated how easy it is for the elderly to loose their balance and promptly fell of my motorcycle while parking. His response, a couple of weeks later was a classic demonstration his flexibility. A message from the young, Kudos to RJ! Mike Briggs, Hobart November 2016

A Hobart Takeaway serves it up, winning notoriety for its burgers, coffee and its name. A slang term for the most briefest of Australian swimming costumes made popular by the current Prime Minister of Australia!. But most recently this establishment was used as a compass for Dark Mofos Blacklist. Formerly a garage and service station the venue has had a checkered past with a number of owners, finally surrendering to Nathan and his partners as the “ Budgie Smugglers” Take Away, with a colourfully rendered motif illustrated on the properties adjacent cement wall. Recently though, mystery surrounded the first night…

When I Saw Your Hair I Almost Dyed……

The London suburb of Islington grew from humble beginnings. What started as an overcrowded London suburb has transformed into a neighborhood of buildings that began as inns and defunct social houses have since been reimagined as fashionable gastropubs, wine bars, and boutiques. The surprises are the imagination of the retailers…. Mike Briggs Islington May 2015
